Auditions for Our Spring Production 2018
Auditions are being held for the Brighton Barn Theatre's production of the Jones, Hope and Wooten comedy “Farce of Habit”.
Location: Brighton Barn Theatre
96 Young Street, Brighton
Sunday January 14, 2018 at 2 pm and Tuesday January 16, 2018 at 7 pm
(call backs as needed)
Rehearsals begin Tuesday Feb 6, 2018 at 7 pm
Performances are from April 13 to April 29, 2018
This is an energetic, fast paced and at times very physical play involving many costume changes. It is performed by 4 males and 5 females. Because it is a sequel to “Farce of Nature” (2015) some of the original cast will be returning to their parts. Sorry, there are no children’s roles in this production.
Directed by Doug Phelan
Produced by Rick Daniels
At audition be prepared to review and perform a provided monologue and/or do a reading from the script.
We will be seeking up to 4 males and 1 female as follows:
Male #1: 50ish, good-hearted guy, easy going, mostly gentle type, operates a family owned backwoods fishing lodge
Male #2: 30-40yr old, handsome, charming, son of the Lodge’s owner
Male #3: 50ish, kind, gentle, meek man seeking a relaxing get away (a very tall or very short person would be a bonus but not vital)
Male #4: late 40s, handsome, macho, self-centered womanizer, a celebrity talk show host
Female #1: late 40's, determined bundle of nerves, on an important (to her) mission

What's Happening
News
Brighton Barn Theatre lost its long time President on May 2nd after a lengthy illness. Art Middleton, or J Arthur as he always liked to be listed in our programs, had been President for as long as most of us can remember.
For almost 20 years, in addition to his presidential duties, Art also produced plays, was our Technical Director, set designer, lighting designer and operator. We have always been blessed that Art and his construction team had our sets "ready to go" so that our casts could rehearse on them as quickly as possible.
Art was truly committed to our Brighton Barn Theatre, having moved from Cobourg to Brighton, just five minutes away from the theatre, when he became President.
Despite his illness, Art last designed the set and lighting for Norm Foster's "Jenny's House of Joy" which ran April - May this 2025 season and was a tremendous success.
His talents and dedication will surely be missed.
