It is 1916 and trains roll eastward filled with loyal and eager young men heading to Europe to fight the Kaiser and come home with stories of great adventure.
During an unscheduled stop outside of Brighton, a young soldier named John recalls wondrous stories of the town related to him by Roy, a local fellow he met at training camp in Saskatchewan.
Roy's tale will be brought to life by John, Roy's family, and friends in the village. The remembrances of other young Brightonians who enlisted in the Great War will be shared.
The production features songs from the era, some patriotic, some just "hits" of the day, to add atmosphere and meaning to the story.
