Winner of the John Gassner Playwriting Contest and the Princeton Players One Act Playwrighting Contest. It tells the story of a zestful, youthful courtship - she is 68 and he is 79. They put their moves on each other in a minuet that is a joy to behold.

This play was presented at the 2003 Eastern Ontario Drama League One-Act Play Festival (hosted by the Brighton Barn Theatre), and was nominated for the Best Direction, Best (Over All) Visual Presentation, Best Production, Best Ensemble Acting, and Best Costuming Awards.

What's Happening

News

Brighton Barn Theatre lost its long time President on May 2nd after a lengthy illness.  Art Middleton, or J Arthur as he always liked to be listed in our programs, had been President for as long as most of us can remember.

For almost 20 years, in addition to his presidential duties, Art also produced plays, was our Technical Director, set designer,  lighting designer and operator.  We have always been blessed that Art and his construction team had our sets "ready to go" so that our casts could rehearse on them as quickly as possible.

Art was truly committed to our Brighton Barn Theatre, having moved from Cobourg to Brighton, just five minutes away from the theatre, when he became President.

Despite his illness, Art last designed the set and lighting for Norm Foster's "Jenny's House of Joy" which ran April - May this 2025 season and was a tremendous success.

His talents and dedication will surely be missed.
