With Christmas getting closer, SOHO’S Brighton Barn Theatre is putting the finishing touches on its' annual holiday presentation. Featuring songs, skits, laughter and love of the holiday season, this year's musical variety show is sure to get everyone into the Christmas spirit. Held in the cozy and intimate Proctor-Simpson Barn for four performances only, December 17 to 20, the show features fifteen talented local performers.

Led by musical director Shasta Moray and accompanied by Evita Van Zoeren-Seymour, the troupe of singers and actors will entertain in a wide variety of musical styles with solos and team up for duets, trios and a choir. Several cast members will also join in on guitar, mandolin, and keyboard. Adding a special touch to the show is Charlene Marcus on the harp. This year's show includes a Christmas melodrama, "Rollin' in Dough in Mistletoe   or   Don't Crack Jingle Bell Rock" by Mariette Slater and directed by Patricia Sherwin, that is sure to have the audience laughing and shouting out with glee!

The choir numbers will include a swing version of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town", and the more traditional "Little Drummer Boy". You'll hear standards like "Let It Snow" and "O Holy Night", alongside some more contemporary Christmas songs like "Grown Up Christmas List" and "It Wasn't His Child".

What's Happening

News

Brighton Barn Theatre lost its long time President on May 2nd after a lengthy illness.  Art Middleton, or J Arthur as he always liked to be listed in our programs, had been President for as long as most of us can remember.

For almost 20 years, in addition to his presidential duties, Art also produced plays, was our Technical Director, set designer,  lighting designer and operator.  We have always been blessed that Art and his construction team had our sets "ready to go" so that our casts could rehearse on them as quickly as possible.

Art was truly committed to our Brighton Barn Theatre, having moved from Cobourg to Brighton, just five minutes away from the theatre, when he became President.

Despite his illness, Art last designed the set and lighting for Norm Foster's "Jenny's House of Joy" which ran April - May this 2025 season and was a tremendous success.

His talents and dedication will surely be missed.
